Please enter via the main entrance at 1 Samuel Spencer Drive, Spencer, NC, and follow the signs to the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center, where you will redeem your tickets. Please have one adult member of your party come inside the Visitor’s Center to redeem tickets before touring the museum or getting in line for the train. The train ride departs from the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center. We encourage arrival at least 15-minutes before train time to allow time for boarding. Train rides last approximately 25-minutes.

COVID-19 Protocols Passenger seating within each train car will have appropriate social distancing between each group of friends or family as outlined by Executive Order #195.

Per Executive Order #163, proper face coverings are required of all museum staff and visitors while in buildings and on the grounds. Children under the age of five and individuals with disabilities who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disability Act are exempt.

TSA requires proper wearing of face masks on the train, per federal law. Failure to comply will result in denial of boarding or removal and may result in penalties under federal law. Children under the age of two and individuals with disabilities who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disability Act are exempt.

Passengers will board and deboard the train in a one-way traffic flow through the rail car. Cars will be sanitized between each ride, including seats, windows, and handrails.

In accordance with CDC and other guidelines, access to some areas and exhibits will be limited or restricted. The museum is walking intensive and involves entering and exiting several buildings and outside areas. Visitors with mobility issues are encouraged to bring their own wheelchairs, walkers, etc., as required. One car of the train is equipped for ADA accessibility including two wheelchair spaces and the availability of a wheelchair lift. The other cars on the train are not ADA accessible due to the vintage nature of their construction.

And don’t forget your 3 W’s! Wear. Wait. Wash: Wear a cloth face covering. Wait at least six feet away from others. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the museum site.
