North Carolina Transportation
Museum
Founded in 1977, the NC Transportation Museum is housed in the
historic buildings of what was once Southern Railways' largest steam
locomotive repair facility named the Spencer Shops.
The museum is the pre-eminent location in the
state to observe the history of transportation first hand. Featuring the
37-stall Robert Julian Roundhouse, a 30 minute train ride, a large collection of
rolling stock, and numerous exibits dedicated to all forms of transportation the
